There re almost no words to describe the beauty and serenity of this breathtaking place ! In a unique landscape of giant sandstone rock pillars you will find one of the most religious complexes in Greece, the Monasteries of Meteora. On the card you see the Roussanou Monastery, one of six still functioning monasteries. Once there were 24 (in the 16th century), all located on the tops of the pillars in lofty heights. It was founded in the late 16th century and named after the first hermit who settled on the rock.
In 1988 Meteora was inscribed into the UNESCO World Heritage List.
