Winter in Ljubljana, Slovenia

Ljubljana is one of Europe's smallest capital cities but has a lot to offer for both the city's residents as well as the tourists from all over the world. It is an educational, economic and cultural hot spot of Slovenia. The card shows Ljubljana during winter time with Christmas lights up all through the streets up to the castle.
On November 23rd, the cities Christmas decorations will be lit up and last until January 15. Each year there is a new theme, for 2022/23  they focus on the Spirit of Community. Approximately 850 sculptures and characters will be on display.

Thank you very much for this wonderful card, Ivana, love the colours !!!

Lake Bohinj - Julian Alps, Slovenia

Surrounded by the majestic mountains of Triglav National Park, in the heart of the Julian Alps, Lake Bohinj looks like a beautiful gem, most of all in autumn with its rich and warm colours. Even though Lake Bohinj is not far from the famous Lake Bled, it has remained less touristy, lonlier and wilder.
The water of the glacial lake is crystal clear and cold, its temperature reaching no more than a maximum of just 17 degrees Celsius even in the height of summer.

Thank you Karmen for sending me this beauty!

Maribor, Slovenia

One of my favourite city view cards !!!  It came as an official Postcrossing card from Danilo - SI-111355.
Maribor is the second largest city in Slovenia and is located in lower Styria along the banks of river Drava. It is well known for its winter sports. Every year the Women's Alpine Skiing Worldcup has races in Maribor's surroundings.

Idrija, Slovenia (UNESCO)

This card arrived here for the WiP Hearts Desire Swap and was sent by Simona Trontelj. It shows the Mercury mine in Idrija. Together with the Mercury mine in Almadén, Spain the two places were inscribed into the UNESCO World Heritage Site as Heritage of Mercury.
Mercury (Quicksilver) is a quite rare material and Idrija and Almadén are the two biggest mercury mines in the world.

Bohinj, Julian Alps, Slovenia

Bohinj is a basin within the Julian Alps in Slovenia. The area is rather  isolated, due to geographic circumstances and only started opening up for tourism a few years ago. The beauty of the landscape is the main attraction for visitors.
This absolutely gorgeous card was sent by Anansie for the Postcrossing Favourites Tag.
