Dion, Greece
Some beautiful images of Dion in Greece sent by Bernadett Csimar for the WiP June General Swap. Dion is famous for an important sanctuary to the Greek god Zeus, the ruins of the ancient city lie within the boundaries of the modern city, There are also temples dedicated to Demeter and the Egyptian goddess Isis, who was a favourite of Alexander the Great who gathered his forces in and around Dion before heading off to the west for his conquests. Archeologists also found a 2200 years old statue of Hera which Christians obvously used to fill up the defensive walls of the city.
