The current Bodie Island Light is actually the 3 lighthouse in this place. The first one was built in 1847 an stayed in use only till 1859 when it was abandoned due to a poor foundation. Today's lighthouse was built in 1872 and renovated in 2012. It is now climbable for tourists.
