Palacio Real (Royal Palace), Madrid, Spain
The Palacio Real in Madrid is the largest royal palace in Europe and the official residence of the Spanish King Felipe VI, although he only uses it for official occasions and state ceremonies. It is owned by the Spanish state and several rooms are open to the public. The royal family chose the more modest Zarzuela Palace on the outskirts of Madrid as their home.
The Palace was built between 1735 and 1755 on the site of the old Alcazar, which was destroyed on Christmas Eve by a fire.
Thank you so much Anna Bogdanovskaya for sending this impressive sepia postcard !!!
