With a total height of 828 meters (2,717 ft) Burj Khalifa is the highest structure in the world. Originally it was named Burj Dubai, a name that was changed on the 3rd anniversary of this exceptional building in 2011, thus honouring the President of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Abu Dhabi, Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Getting up to the highest platform for visitors was a major accomplishment for me with my fear of heights. When later I stood at the base of this amazing tower, looking up at the level where I had been only a short while before, almost made me sick.
