The Wadden Sea (UNESCO)

The Wadden Sea in the southeastern part of the North Sea is a shallow body of water with tidal flats and wetlands. It is the largest unbroken system of intertidal sand and mud flats in the world and as such enlisted among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Spoken in geological terms, the area is still quite young. The wildlife and vegetation calling this demanding place home are unique.
