The Mummers Parade, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
From the back of the card: "The Mummers Parade is an American tradition held each New Year's Day in Philadelphia. It is thought to be the oldest folk festival in the United States. Local clubs compete for thousands of dollars in prizes in one of four categories: comics, fancies, string bands and fancy brigades. Participants labor almost a full year preparing elaborate costumes, music, and pageantry for this parade which starts in South Philly and travels up Broad Street. The Mummers Parade is as much a part of Philadelphia history as the Liberty Bell and cheese steaks"
This beautiful card was sent by Rose Davenport for the WiP January General Swap.
