St. Marks Lighthouse is the oldest light station in Florida. The first tower was built in 1831 but was soon threatened by erosion. The lantern and illuminating apparatus were dismantled and a second tower was built further inland in 1942. This one survived the hurricanes but was heavily damaged during the Civil War and was reconstructed soon after the war ended.
Karyn Schronski sent me this postcard for the WiP Hearts Desire Swap and it was a nice new addition to my ligthouse collection.
