Court of the Lions, Alhambra, Spain (UNESCO)
Belem (gigi) sent me this stunning postcard of the Court of the Lions in UNESCO World Heritage Site Alhambra in Granada, for the Postcrossing Favourites Tag.
I've visited this place several years ago and it was one of the best experiences ever. I loved how there were no larger groups of tourists being led through the place with guides reciting historic and architectural background of the palace in a loud voice. Instead everyone walked around with some kind of headphone, so everything was wonderfully silent and even though there were lots of people, one could still enjoy the sound of the water fountains and the chirping of the birds in the trees and bushes. Such a relaxing way of visiting this wonderful place.
The Alhambra was inscribed into the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1984 with an extension in 1994.
