Zakynthos, Greece
Sunset at the Greek island Zakynthos. It is located in the Ionian Sea and the largest of the Ionian Islands. The famous Greek poet Homer mentioned the island in the Iliad and the Odyssey. Today Zakynthos is a thriving tourist island .
In August 1953 the island suffered from major earthquakes, the strongest reaching 7.3 on the Richter Scale. It totally destroyed the islands infrastructure and only 3 buildings were left standing, the National Bank, the Dionysos Catherdral and the church of Saint Nicholoas of the Quay.
The beautiful card was given to me by my friend Manuela who received it from her son.
