San Diego, California, USA

San Diego is the 6th largest city of the United States and located in southern California, directly at the Mexican border.
In 1542 Juan Cabrillo landed in San Diego Bay and claimed the whole area for the Spanish crown. The Mission of San Diego, founded in 1769 was the first European settlement in California. The city belonged to Mexico for a while until it became a part of the USA in 1850, after the Mexican-American war.
