John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park was the first underwater stepe park in the United States. It covers approximately 240 square kilometers of adjacent Atlantic Ocean waters. It was established in 1963 to preserve the coral reef and marine life.
A popular site for scuba divers and snorkelers is the huge statue of Christ that weighs over 1800 kilos, named Christ of the Abyss.
