Cordouan Lighthouse, located near the mouth of the Gironde estuary in France, is the 10th tallest traditional lighthouse in the world. It is 68 meters (223 ft) high and still active. Construction was started in 1584 and lasted till 1611 which makes it the oldest lighthouse in France. It is a Rennaissance masterpiece designed by Louis de Foix.
