Peter and Paul Fortress, St. Petersburg, Russia (UNESCO)
Great nightview of the UNESCO Site Peter and Paul Fortress in St. Petersburg. It was sent by Natalia and Sam for the Postcrossing UK&Ireland x OC Round Robin. The fortress was established by Peter the Great in 1703.
Castle of the Snakes, Adana, Turkey
This card was sent by Sihirliflut for the Postcrossing UK&Ireland x OC Round Robin and shows the Castle of the Snakes in Adana in Turkey. It is a large medieval castle used by the Crusaders of the Armenian Kingdom of Sicilia. It was build in the 11th or 12th century.
Castle Croy, Netherlands
This beautiful card of Castle Croy in the province of North Babrant in the Netherlands was sent by Helma for the Postcrossing UK&Ireland x OC Round Robin. There is not much known about this castle. Its origins go back to the 15th century. It was last in use as a home for elderly people, as stated in the will of the last owner, a Lady van der Brugghen who passed away in 1873. The fire saftey wasn't up to modern standards though, and so the home for the elderly was moved out again in 1977.

Durham City and Castle, UK (UNESCO)
Great night view of city and castle of Durham. The Castle and also the Catherdral are on the UNESCO List. They were inscribed in 1986. This wonderful postcard was sent by Lotti for the Postcrossing UK&Ireland x OC RR hosted by Claudia.
Victory Square, Minsk, Belarus
A great nightview of Victory Square with the Obelisk in Minsk was sent by Ludmila for the Postcrossing UK&Ireland x OC RR. Victory Square is the key landmark of Minsk, a main tourist attraction, newly weds go there to take their wedding picture, holiday parades pass this important site of the city. The Obelisk is crowned with a giant replica of the Order of Victory and at its base is the Sacred Sword of Victory. The monument is dedicated to the soldiers of the Soviet Union and Belarus.
Amish Children
Cathy Dempsey sent me this nice card of Amish Children playing for the WiP People Swap. The Amish are known for their simple living and a reluctance of using modern conveniences and technology.
Wroclaw, Centennial Hall, Poland (UNESCO)
Great postcard of the Polish UNESCO World Heritage Site Centennial Hall in Wroclaw. I love how this wonderful building reflects in the water. It was inscribed into the UNESCO List in 2006. Rafal sent it for the Postcrossing Favourites Swap.

Great view of Binghamton, New York, sent by Cathy Dempsey for the WiP August Swap. The city was first settled around 1802 and named after William Bingham, a quite wealthy Philadelphian.

Stepping Stones Lighthouse, Long Island, USA
Alessandra sent me this beautiful view of Stepping Stones Lighthouse on Long Island for the Postcrossing Favourites Tag. The lightouse is built in Victorian Style and in current use, so it is not open to the public.
Diana, Princess of Wales
I still consider Princess Diana one of the most beautiful women this world has ever seen. I was so sad about her death. Thank you for this awesome postcard Catherine, sent for the Postcrossing Favourites Tag.
Finland - Ice Hockey World Champions 2011

Chief Red Arrow
Awesome postcard coming from Rod Eime from his recent trip to Canada. It shows Chief Red Arrow of the Lakota People. His Lakota name is Wanduta. Unfortunately there is not much information to be found on this chief, but lots to read about the Lakota.
Fishing in Minnesota, USA
Wonderful colours and scenery! This card was sent by Ruth Smith for the WiP Typcial Swap. What could be more typical for Minnesota (nicknamed Land of 10.000 Lakes) than Lakes and Fishing :) The back of the card says that "Minnesota has more shoreline than Florida, California and Hawaii combined!" Great choice of card for this swap :) Great stamps too, will have to hide that one from my grandson! LOL
Oyster Island, Rosses Point, Ireland
This card made me a winner in WiP's August Lottery :) It shows the Rosses Point Lighthouse and was sent by Claudia Busse. A new lighthouse for my collection :)
White Sands National Monument, New Mexico
This gorgeous postcard was sent by Pat Schultz for the WiP Letter N swap. N stands for National Park here. In White Sands National Monument Park giant wave-like dunes of gypsum sand have created the world's largest gypsum dune field, encompassing 275 square miles in southern New Mexico. Looks really spectacular.

Great postcard of UNESCO World Heritage Site Yosemite National Park. It was sent by Amanda Hakkarainen for the WiP Mountain Swap. The park was inscribed into the UNESCO List in 1984. The highest peaks are almost 4.000 m high

Sun Moon Lake, Taiwan
This beautiful view of Sun Moon Lake in Taiwan was sent as an official Postcrossing card (TW-358053) by May. The Sun Moon Lake and the area around it is home to the Thao Tribe. There is a small island in the lake, Lalu Island, which is holy to the Thao Tribe.

Middle School, somewhere in China :)
This card shows a Middle School in China, sent by Zhong Wenhua for the WiP Letter M Swap. The text on the card was only in Chinese, so I have no idea where this school might be locared.
