Castle Rheinstein is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Upper Middle Rhine Valley. The castle was built in the early 14th century but fell into decline soon after. In the 19th century it was bought by the Prussian Prince Frederick who then rebuilt it. Today the castle is in private possession and closed to the public.
