Québec, Le Petit Champlain, Canada
What a beautiful street view of Québec's lovely Le Petit Champlain district. Here it is beautifully decorated for the Christmas Season. I believe the picture is taken from the Breakneck Steps, Québec's oldest stairway, built in 1635. The neighbourhood is named after Samuel de Champlain, the founder of the city.

Athabasca Glacier, Alberta, Canada (UNESCO)
The Athabasca Glacier, a frozen river of ice, descends from the vast Columbia Icefield in a series of three falls before sweeping down the valley. It is located in Jasper National Park, which makes it a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

RMS Empress of Ireland, Canada
Brilliant postcard coming from "Doomkitty91" for the Postcrossing May 50 Round Robin.
It shows the RMS Empress of Ireland, an ocean liner built in Scotland, launched in 1906. Together with its sister ship "Empress of Britain" it was commissioned by Canadian Pacific Steamships for the North Atlantic route connecting Quebec and Liverpool.
On May 29, 1914 the Empress of Ireland with 1477 passengers aboard collided with the SS Storstad, a Norwegian collier in the St. Lawrence River. 1.012 passengers died.

Banff National Park, Canada (UNESCO)
A wonderful view of Hector Lake and Wapta Icefield in the Banff National Park in Canada. It was the first National Park in Canada, established in 1885 and declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984.

Tonto Apache Woman
Great postcard showing a Tonto Apache woman clothed for a special occasion. Apache women liked calico and frequently wore dresses and blouses made from this fabric. The feathers in her hair are from an eagle of hawk.

Fisgard Lighthouse, Vancouver Island, Canada
A new lighthouse for my collection came from JustKatie for a Postcrossing Round Robin. The card shows Fisgard Lighthouse. It was built in 1860 and is a National Historic Site of Canada.

Butchart Gardens, Victoria, Canada
Beautiful view of the Ross Fountain in Butchart Gardens. The fountain was completed in 1964 to mark the 60th anniversary of Butchart Gardens.

Bear Glacier, British Columbia, Canada
Impressive view of the Bear Glacier in British Columbia, Canada, sent by Donna Rabinovich for the WiP May General Swap. The massive ice pack of the Glacier seems to flow right down to the edge of the road. Many of such spectacular glacial islands dot the mountains in this rugged wilderness area near Stewart in north-western British Columbia.

Point Abino Lighthouse, Lake Erie, Canada
This card showing the Point Abino Lighthouse in Canada took a detour via Russia to arrive here in Germany. The lighthouse was built in 1918 by the Canadian government to replace the old Buffalo lightship that was lost at sea in 1913.

Aguasabon Gorge, Terrace Bay, Ontario, Canada
The Aguasabon originates at Chorus Lake and empties into the Lake Superior near Terrace, Ontario. The 30 meters hight Aguasabon falls are impressive and plunge down into a narrow gorge.

Kakabeka Falls, Canada
Kakabeka Falls is a waterfall on the Kaministiquia River in Ontario. It has a drop of 40 meters and is nicknamed the "Niagara of the North". The name Kakabeka comes from the Ojibwe language and means translated "Waterfall over a cliff"

Peyto Lake, Canadian Rockies, Canada (UNESCO)
Peyto lake is a glacier-fed lake found in the Banff National Park in Canada which makes it part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks. Great view of this place with the snow covered Rockies and trees. Looks rather chilly.
