Arizona Saguaros, USA
Odd shaped Saguaros as found in Arizona, USA. This cactus species can grow to heights of up to 20 or more meters and have quite a long lifespan. Usually they grow their first "arm" at the age of 15-20 years, some never grow any arms at all.

Purple Gallinule in the Florida Everglades, USA (UNESCO)
Great postcard sent by Karyn Schronski for the WiP UNESCO Swap showing a Purple Gallinule in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Florida Everglades, a subtropical wetland in southern Florida. It was inscribed into the UNESCO list in 1979.

Common Coqui
The Common Coqui is named for the sounds the male frogs make. The "Co" is meant to drive enemies away and the "Qui" sound attracts the females of his species. The frogs are rather tiny, the males average up to 34mm while the femails grow to an average of 41 mm. 'They are native to Puerto Rico.

Brown Pelican

The Brown Pelican is the smallest of the 8 different Pelican species. It feeds by diving into the ocean, two of the species feed that way.

Walrus, Greenland
Thanks to my postcard pal Rod Eime my Greenland collection is growing rapidly these days :). This time he sent me a cute fellow, who looks a bit sleepy. Not sure how one can feel comfortable in these icy waters, but this walrus seems to be enjoying it !

Elf Owl

The Elf Owl is the smalles owl in the world and lives in abandoned nesting cavities made by woodpeckers in Giant Saguaro Cacti.

Snowy Owl
Great picture of a snowy owl. The snowy owl is a nomadic bird, mostly found in the norther circumpolar region. It was first classified in 1758 by Carolus Linneaus. Its wingspan can reach about 150 centimeters.
