Cape Winelands, South Africa

The Cape Winelands are situated to the north-east of Cape Town and offer a fantastic landscape of wine hills and mountains.
The flourishing wine industry ultimately results from the first refreshment point founded by the East India Trading Company in 1652 at the Cape of Good Hope, so their fleets could replenish their provisions before carrying on with their voyage. Soon after the first settlers arrived, among them experienced winemakers from Germany, France and the Netherlands. The gentle hills provided perfect ground for excellent wine.
Thank you Thomas Rollik for another fantastic card from South Africa !!

Cape Town, South Africa

Beautiful view of the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront complex in Cape Town, as seen from the calm waters of Victoria Basin with Table Mountain and Devil's Peak right behind. The complex, which is a major tourist attraction, was designed by Adrian van der Wyver and named after Queen Victoria and her second son Prince Alfred, who visited the cape colony in 1860.
Thank you Thomas Rollik for this great postcard !!!
