Sultanahmet Mosque, Istanbul, Turkey (UNESCO)
Sultanahmet Mosque in Istanbul, also called the Blue Mosque for the blue tiles decorating the interior walls. It was built in 1609-1616. As a young girl I visited there with my parents during a short trip to Istanbul. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Historic Areas of Istanbul, inscribed in 1985.
