Castle Neuschwanstein, Bavaria, Germany

One of the most beautiful sights in Germany, Castle Neuschwanstein near Füssen in Bavaria. The castle was commissioned by King Ludwig II of Bavaria and meant as retreat for him. The interior design is an homage to Richard Wagner, the famous German composer. After Ludwig's death in 1886 the castle was opened to the public and has since become famous among tourists from all over the world. During the summer season there are often about 6000 visitors per day!
This great card was sent by Christine (bicolorcat) for the Postcrossing Favourites Tag.
