Kinzua Bridge, Pennsylvania, USA

This postcard showing the Kinzua Bridge near Mt. Jewett in Pennsylvania was sent by Mel Cole for the WiP History Swap.
The original bridge, built in 1882 was made from iron and for two years it held the title of being the tallest railroad bridge in the world. In 1900 it was dismantled and rebuilt in steel. In 2002 restoration works started but in 2003, the bridge was still not finished from restoration works, it was hit by a tornado which destroyed a large portion. Later it completely collapsed due to cooroded anchor bolts.
