Rarotonga, Cook Islands

Another absolutely amazing postcard sent by Rod Eime, this time from Rarotonga, Cook Islands. The country consists of 14 islands of which Rarotonga is the biggest and most populous with about 14,000 inhabitants. The first settlements on the Cook Islands date back to the 6th century when Polynesians travelled here from Tahiti. James Cook arrived on the islands in 1773 and 1777 and named them Hervey Islands. Later they were named Cook Islands in his honour.
