Akdamar Island, Turkey and Cathedral Church of the Holy Cross
I just love this view; it looks all so calm and peaceful. Akdamar Island is located in Lake Van in Eastern Anatolia, Turkey. There is an Armenian cathedral, known as the Cathedral Church of the Holy Cross, formerly the seat of an Armenian Catholicos (1116 - 1985). After being vandalized for a good while, restoration began in May 2005 and on March 29, 2007 it was reopened as a museum.
The card was sent by Kate (siguanea) for the Postcrossing Favourites Tag.
Oman Mosque
Awesome postcard of a mosque in the Sultanate of Oman, sent by my parents. The card did not say though which mosque it is and my internet research didn't shed a light on it either. If anyone knows, please let me know! The card is a real treasure for me, though!
Greek Streetscene
A typical streetscene in Greece. It is so refreshing to walk such streets in the summer heat, with the white walls and blue windows and doors.
The card was given to me by my friend Manuela Rausch who received it from friends vacationing in Greece.
Shrine of Tutankhamen
This postcard arrived from Jean-Michel Ermide for the WiP April Lottery. It shows the Great Shrine made of wood and covered with gilt from Pharao Tutankhamen's Treasures. It is part of the exhibition in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.

Bali Temple Procession
Great card showing a Balinese temple procession. To see this in person has to be absolutely awesome. Rafal sent this card to me for the Postcrossing Favourites Tag.
Wedding of Prince William and Kate
Another wonderful card of the royal wedding in London last year. It was sent by Ellen (ellesbelles1909) for the Postcrossing Favourites Tag.
Edinburgh and Castle, Scotland, UK
Great birds eye view of Edinbugh Castle in Scotland. It was built on the hill of an extinct volcano and grandly overlooks the city. Until 1603 the castle continued to be a royal residence. These days it accomodates the Scottish National War Museum and the National War Museum of Scotland. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Old and New Town of Edinburgh, inscribed in 1995.
The card was sent by Joke Roodenburg for the WiP September General Swap.
Captain Sparrow
