Palisade Head, Lake Superior, Minnesota

The rock formation Palisade Head is found on the north shore of Lake Superior in the Tettegouche State Park. It was formed by rhyolitic lava about 1.1 billion years ago. I am scared to death by great heights, so I guess I would not get close the abyss and just admire the view from afar LOL
This card was sent by Ruth Smith for the WiP November General Swap.

Side, Turkey

Side is one of the best known sea side reorts of Turkey. In ancient times it was one of the most important trace centers in the area. It was founded by the Greek, most likely in the 7th century BC. I've seen this place twice during holidays in Turkey, and just love it there. Great beaches, nice people and lots of history and ancient sites to explore.
The card was sent by my parents from their recent trip to Turkey.

Kuressaare Castle on Saaremaa Island, Estonia

This card was sent by Eellaa (Ella) for the Postcrossing Favourites Tag. It shows Castle Kursessaare on Estonia's biggest island Saaremaa. I didn't know that there is actually a nice connection to the castle on the card :) Just now when I did some research on it, I found out that Saaremaa is called Ösel in German and a Count of Ekesparre, who was at home on this island came here into my valley to buy the Castle Olbrück where I do tours now for tourists :) The world really is a small place!

Basilica of Our Lady of Lebanon, Harissa, Lebanon

Harissa is a mountain village in Lebanon, not far from the capital city Beirut. There is an awesome view to enjoy but that is most important about this place is the pilgrimmage shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon. There is a 15 ton bronze statue (painted white) of Virgin Mary with her arms stretched out wide. It was inaugurated in 1908.
The card was sent by Jino in a private swap.

Antalya, Turkey

My parents sent me this beautiful postcard from their trip Turkey. Antalya is located on the Mediterranean coast and the country's biggest international sea resort. On the right you see the Fluted Minaret, the symbol of the city. Until recently archeologists thought the city had been founded in 150 BC by King Attalia, but now excavations have uncovered even older remains. The city has a very fascinating history.

Fort Necessity National Battlefield, Farmington, USA

An older card but nonetheless nice and dear to me. Bonnie Jeanne Tibbets sent it to me a few years ago. The postcard shows the interior of Mount Washington Tavern, a classic example of the inns along the National Road.
